Mauliola means “breath of life.”
Six softball fields at Sand Island, open to everyone. The state owns the land. Hawaii Softball Foundation leases it, runs it and keeps it open, with no state or city money for the upkeep.

The two oldest fields at Mauliola get rebuilt from the ground up: new backstops, dugouts, batting cages, scorekeeper booths, scoreboards and bleachers.
